Basket People Part 4: Wicker Men Supplemental Info

I had made a couple of comments on the previous Wicker Men post, but decided to delete them as comments and make this supplemental post instead. I want to credit those who made the Wicker Husband's basketry costume, and add some of my thoughts after seeing the movie.

Posted on Oct 19:  more about the actual basket weavers, those who made Wicker Husband and those with comments on the basketry.

Regarding the movie Wicker: Here's an article that says in the movie, the Wicker Husband is supposed to be willow. Plus it gives more information about the basketry involved. And it credits the basket makers: Weta prosthetic makeup designer Joe Dunckley, lead makeup effects artist Sarah Rubano, and lead weaver Jasmin van Lith.  From the article "Husband Material" by Cat Zhang in The Cut.

Posted on Oct 22:  I saw the movie.

I saw the movie Wicker today. The Wicker Husband is incredible, bravo to the team that created him. The baskets used throughout the movie are outstanding and varied. Seen in the streets, in the homes, in Basket Weaver's workshop, they range from carrying and gathering baskets to egg holders, fish traps, and more. The Hungarian countryside is also lovely. It's an interesting story and a beautiful film. I will see it again.
